At Aditya Birla Capital, every day is a new day. There is always a fresh challenge to conquer, and we all know that we’re set to disrupt the status quo. In terms of job satisfaction, ABC provides truly unparalleled opportunities. Very few places can boast of such an environment where not a single day feels stagnant or monotonous. I think this struck me more than ever once I had left to explore other avenues outside. I actually missed the excitement and passion at ABC, and it just made sense for me to return for a second innings with the company.

To tell you about my first stint, I joined Aditya Birla Health Insurance in its nascent stages and had the privilege of gaining rich exposure while building the business from scratch. Right from setting up my team and identifying the right processes, to working closely with the senior leadership and absorbing their expertise – it was a learning experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was also extremely empowering to be in an organisation that is driven by a genuine passion for health, rather than solely focusing on insurance as a business. This approach really motivated me to bring my best to the role, with real care and concern for our customers.

When I had to make the decision of returning to the organisation after witnessing the landscape outside, I knew that a world of opportunities awaited me. The beginning of the second stint felt like coming back home. There was so much warmth and it felt so comfortable to be back. Everyone was extremely supportive and welcoming, including my leaders.

While times have changed, scale has increased in leaps and bounds, and even the industry landscape has transformed, what remains constant about ABC right from the beginning is the zeal to chase growth and the speed with which we pursue higher benchmarks. This was the culture when the insurance business was just starting up, and this is the culture even today. No matter how big we get, the passion to excel never fades.

The growth opportunities and the sheer range of learning options are also admirable here. Over time, the focus on people development has not just increased but has also become much more structured and robust. Even for me individually, while my role is functionally the same as it was during my first leg with ABC, the scope of my responsibilities has increased significantly, and the growth-centric ethos here truly equips me to evolve continually.

When I look back at my association with ABC over the years, I can still vividly remember the emotional experience of leaving the company. After all, I was saying goodbye to a team I had built from the ground-up. That’s also why coming back felt so joyful and exhilarating, yet so normal – all at once. I’m fortunate to be living the ABC experience, complete with the transparency, integrity and empathy that we all stand for.
