I think each and everyone had their method to cope when it came to this pandemic. For me, this lockdown opened up my time to focus on myself and my health. It honestly started with my motivation to be fit by looking at all the people around me who inspired me to do so.
For example, a few of my closest friends started working out again. They nudged me into it as well. Especially in the second month of lockdown, where one of my friends took up a SehatkiNayiAadat, she walked around her apartment, ate right, and lost a couple of kgs. This pushed me to do the same.
But it was challenging at first, majorly because neither could we step out to exercise or hit the gym. Plus, the housework and running around the house behind my toddler would leave me exhausted. More so, with so many obstacles, I would lose my zeal and slump all day. On such days, I reminded myself that it’s okay to take a break and not always push myself and add pressure.
I still had to figure out a new way to incorporate physical activity while maintaining consistency. So, I first started with yoga and then moved to aerobics. I soon found it way interesting than any typical workout and even added skipping to my routine. For my eating habits, I tried incorporating each meal with all food groups. But I was never too harsh on myself. I gave myself days off when I was stressed or overwhelmed.
Thanks to technology, my family and friends joined me in my daily activities. We would hit each other up and take out time to just chat and relax.
Thus, this SehatKiNayiAadat made me feel good, which also kept me optimistic while dealing with life.
We have all heard that ‘Health is wealth’. But sometimes, in our daily hustle, we all want someone to push us. Okay, you might laugh, but even I believe fitness is not a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. You need to walk those few steps daily not only for the lean body but for a healthy heart, glowing skin, strong bones, and mental peace.
Lastly, I am sharing my story here, even when I work out on my Instagram page. The only thought to do so was to build a community to remind everyone out there that you are not alone. Share your story with me and let me know too, what was your SehatKiNayiAadat?
If you have a #SehatKiNayiAadat, then do share your story here.
